In 1951, Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese-American sculptor and designer, created Akari Light Sculptures: over 100 lamps of all sizes and prices, crafted from washi paper and bamboo. He named the series "Akari," a Japanese word for light and clarity. Each lamp is produced by the Ozeki workshop, a Gifu-based family business.
